Our team's last year Christmas present was a bright new home page - launched on December 23. We learned from our users and optimized our primary landing page based on feedback, analytics and a little gut feeling - focusing less on our platform and more on the wonderful apps created by the developer community.

Of course we thought we rocked and that this was the prettiest and most efficient home page ever designed - and we did get a lot of feedback giving us even more confidence. But some of our most loyal clients and our best developers came to us to comment on specific elements. Here's some of the most candid (and actionable) feedback we got:
(...) home page, well featured apps look great. But I don't really get that "infographic". It could be a little more specific, For example, there is a monitor with a standart website like now and text your regular website, and then arrow goes to a monitor with more enhanced example, like same website with bicycles, but only with follow buttons, sticky note, feedback form, etc. And text something like, turn it into more responsive, selfpromoting, etc (sorry, don't know specific terms) without any technical knowledge. In my opinion it would be more explanatory. Right now, if I wouldn't have known what siteapps is, I'm afraid I wouldn't have any idea, what siteapps can do for me.
Yikes! This hurts, but this loyal client is right - here's what he's talking about:

Our team's objective with this section on the home page was to bring a non-technical and poetic definition of the benefits of the platform. We could have done better.
And the plot thickens. Although we are a dynamic company and are proud to react to feedback - our development team is so back-logged that we could only react to another change late January.
So we decided to eat some of our own dog food and use SiteApps to update our own home page. Here's how we did it: we created a custom code that changes this element with a new layout. A simple javacript call with new HTML code.

This is one of the least talked about benefits of SiteApps - allowing websites to implement change by using an alternative method of the traditional IT development line.
If you have a similar story, let us know and we'd be happy to share it. And all feedback on our home page re-design is always welcome.
Cheers,
SiteApps Team
